Cancellation policy

The ticket is non-refundable. Once purchased, the date and time cannot be changed.

What should you know?

The Classic Pass bundles five distinct attractions into one ticket. Here’s what you get:

  • The Palace Grand Tour: Full access to all 40 rooms (not the shorter 22-room tour), including the opulent Rococo interiors from Maria Theresa’s era, with audioguide included.
  • Gloriette Viewing Terrace: The rooftop panorama platform with sweeping views across Vienna and the palace gardens.
  • Prince’s Garden (Privy Garden): An exclusive formal garden with shaded pergolas and colorful flower beds.
  • Orangery Garden: Historic garden adjacent to one of Europe’s largest Baroque orangeries.
  • Maze & Labyrinth: The hedge maze with a central viewing platform, plus the interactive playground area.

Yes, and this isn’t a suggestion. Booking online ahead of time is essential.

Here’s why. Schönbrunn operates with fixed admission times for the palace. When you buy the Classic Pass online, you select a specific day and time slot for your palace visit. That time is locked in.

If you show up hoping to buy tickets on-site, particularly during summer months or weekends, you’re looking at wait times that can easily hit 1 to 2 hours just to purchase a ticket. And even after that wait, the next available entry slot might be hours away.

The kicker? If you’re late to your reserved time slot, you lose your ticket with no refund or rescheduling option.

Absolutely, but the real value depends on what you want from Schönbrunn. The park grounds, pathways, and fountains are free to explore. You can walk 95% of Schönbrunn without paying a cent. The Classic Pass gives you access to the closed, premium areas within those grounds, plus of course the palace interior itself.

Plan for 3 to 4 hours to see everything included in the Classic Pass. That’s a solid half-day commitment.

The palace Grand Tour with audioguide takes about an hour. The Gloriette visit is roughly 20 minutes, though the walk there (or back, depending on your route) adds another 30-45 minutes. The maze takes 30-45 minutes, longer if you’re with kids who want to explore every corner. Each of the formal gardens, the Prince’s Garden and the Orangery Garden, needs about 20-30 minutes.
