Closest landmark: Schönbrunn Palace sits a few kilometers southwest of Vienna's historic center, next to the Schönbrunn Gardens. Hofburg Palace is in the very center of Vienna, next to Heldenplatz and the Austrian National Library.
Schönbrunn Palace and Hofburg Palace are in different parts of Vienna and not within walking distance of each other. Both are well connected by metro: Schönbrunn has its own stop on line U4 (Schönbrunn), while Hofburg Palace is closest to Herrengasse on line U3; the two lines interchange at Landstraße (Wien Mitte), where you can change between them.
